4D Approach TM
Our 4D Approach TM to the management of consulting projects in Local Government is a new tool for those driving change.
This powerful method offers Chief Executives and Senior Councillors the following advantages:
- a context for activities through an overview of project direction
- a powerful tool for project control and audit
- works with and not against human behaviour
Each of these is described in more detail in the sections below.
1 - Project Direction
Projects run more smoothly when all parties know both what they are doing and why they are doing it. To know where you have come from, where you are going and how you are going to get there at any given stage in a project is a distinct advantage.
The four stages or dimensions give Officers and Members a ready and simple context for different tasks.
The result is a "golden thread" linking information, analysis, decisions and consequences through projects from start to finish, beginning to end.
2 - Project Audit & Control
This overview of project direction promotes transparency and control for those managing and scrutinising projects and outcomes.
- What information was that decision based on?
- When was the decision made?
- When were project terms modified? Why? How?
- When were the first indications that a project would overrun?
Problems and plans are often complex and require an understanding of systems, but with the 4D Approach TM, managing projects no longer need be the same.
Officers and members alike will see quickly how the 4D Approach TM works, what to expect at each stage and how to contribute.
3 - Human Behaviour
We believe projects start and end with people.
So does change. Change must be owned, and at the end of the project it must be embedded. And therein lies the biggest challenge of projects: motivating people and enabling change in their behaviour.
The reason? Changes influence us from the outside, but people change from the inside out.
The 4D Approach TM aligns with the simple, powerful principles of learning because it was designed with them in mind.
The 4D Approach TM takes people step-by-step through the learning journey in a simple and natural way.
... and one final reason
The 4D Approach TM, in common with all our work, is intuitive. It is so simple you can use it again and again.
There is much more we could say, but the easiest way would be to show you - contact us to arrange a demonstration.
