Eileen Harrop, MA
Associate
Eileen Harrop draws on more than 20 years of public and private sector experience as a managing director, chief executive and principal consultant to government agencies and leading global conglomerates.
Eileen has led successful transformations exceeding financial and commercial targets as well as establishing a culture of continuous improvement, innovation and personal accountability for individual and collective performance.
Her effectiveness in enabling organisations to achieve major transformation and outstanding efficiency improvements is founded on the ability to work with all levels of staff to draw on their knowledge and situational experience engaging them in the change process to achieve change outcomes.
- Eileen was among the pioneers in delivering central government initiatives within a local education authority in the mid 1980s. She explored how the secondary school curriculum could be informed by the evolving multi-cultural community and to encourage collaboration between schools and social services in this context.
- As corporate services director for a national government hospital she is well-acquainted with the need to find creative solutions within the constraints of government acts and the public purse. She was responsible for setting up customer service units to consult with customers, to measure and review satisfaction, to communicate with customers, and to bring to bear on policy service delivery customer feedback. Within her portfolio she managed supplier and contractor relationships to ensure delivery of services were responsive to customer feedback.
- She was engaged by a national police service to lead a programme of process re-engineering, from a standing start of educating the force about what processes are, the benefits of having a common view of how work is actually done and the benefits of designing processes that enable them to achieve their new vision. The involvement of officers and administrative colleagues throughout this programme proved to be a critical success factor for a re-engineered organisation that is still effective and continuously improving after more than 10 years since implementation.
- Her private sector clients include leading global businesses Nestle, Gillette, SKF, Cargolux, Boehringer Ingelheim, the European Space Agency (ESA) and United Engineers.
A desire to bring the benefits of her private sector experience to the public sector make her an exciting addition to our team and offers a unique asset to local government.
Eileen is also a trained diplomat and an accomplished singer. In her spare time she enjoys fine cooking.
