Kevan has over 15 years Member-side experience of Metropolitan and County Councils.

He was Vice-Chairman of Manchester Airport PLC and has held the Economic and Social Regeneration portfolio. Other significant responsibilities held include:

• Handling relationships with ethnic minority communities
• Board member of Manchester Ship Canal Company
• Lead negotiatior for 30,000 NHS staff

He has chaired Leisure, Highways and Policy Committees and other national and international committees. He has addressed conferences on local authority procurement strategies at the invitation of the LGA and ODPM.

He has a track record of innovation with the development and launch of a youth 'Explore' card which had 50,000 cardholders and operated at 50% of budget within 6 months of launch.

In the last 3 years he has worked as a consultant for the IDeA with a variety of LBCs and MBCs, County and Borough councils on performance improvement. This has included assessing council performance in communities affected by racial tensions.
